The anti-Israel boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement has extensive terror links, according to a new report published by the Israeli Ministry of Strategic Affairs on Sunday.
The report — titled “Terrorists in Suits” — revealed over 100 specific alleged links between BDS groups and terrorism, particularly the Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) organizations.
More than 30 Hamas and PFLP members, many with terror convictions, are spread out among BDS organizations.
“Terrorist groups and the anti-Israel boycott campaign have united in their goal of wiping Israel off the map,” Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan stated.
“Terrorist groups view boycotts as a complementary tactic to terror attacks,” he added. “Following the exposure of over 100 links between terrorist groups and leading BDS organizations, I urge all governments and financial institutions to investigate the activities of these BDS organizations, and immediately end all funding and support which they provide to them.”
The report found that millions of euros have been donated to the BDS organizations in question by European governments and charities.
The watchdog group NGO Monitor responded to the report, saying, “Over a decade ago, NGO Monitor first documented connections between Europe-funded Palestinian NGOs and the PFLP. In recent years, and based on these findings, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Switzerland issued clear guidelines preventing funding for these NGOs. A number of banking and credit card platforms have also stopped services for the terror-linked NGO network.”
“On this basis, we will carefully study the new report,” the group added, “and encourage the relevant governments and NGO funding agencies to do the same. We also repeat our call for cooperation between Israeli government officials and European counterparts to ensure that no funding is provided to NGOs linked to designated terror organizations.”
