JNS.org – At least two rockets were launched from Gaza into Israel early on Thursday in response to the Israeli Air Force striking a Hamas base in the northern Gaza Strip.
“Earlier today, explosive and arson balloons were launched from the Gaza Strip,” said the army. “In response, overnight, an IDF fighter jet and an IDF aircraft struck a number of terror targets in a Hamas military compound in the northern Gaza Strip.”
The rockets apparently landed in open areas and caused no injures, reported The Times of Israel, citing a spokesperson for the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council.
One of the balloons appeared to cause a fire in a field between the Eshkol National Park and Kibbutz Urim, according to Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson Eli Cohen. Firefighters have been working to extinguish the flames.
“The teams are working together to get control over the fire and prevent it from spreading,” Cohen told The Times of Israel.
No injuries have been reported from the balloon launches.
