i24 News – Six people were wounded on Tuesday in a terror shooting attack outside of a shopping area in Ma’ale Adumim, near Jerusalem.
The terrorist was neutralized by an off-duty border policeman, and security forces are on the scene. Israel’s Police Chief Kobi Shabtai and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir visited the scene shortly after the attack and spoke with the border policeman who neutralized the assailant.
According to reports, the terrorist worked at the city’s community center and posed as a security guard, wearing a yellow vest.
MDA medics and paramedics provided medical treatment at the scene to six wounded people and evacuated them to the Shaare Zedek and Hadassah Har Hatzofim hospitals, including two in serious condition.
In response to the attack, the municipality of Ma’ale Adumim announced that the entry of non-residents would be prevented and forces would be increased all over the city.
“This serious incident is another reminder of the difficult reality we are experiencing here in Israel, and of the security threats from those who try to terrorize our daily lives,” said Ma’ale Edumim’s Mayor Benny Kashriel.
Minutes after the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant took charge of the IDF’s Central Command, which is responsible for military activities in the West Bank. A statement from the prime minister’s office said the two were receiving information about the shooting.
Gaza’s ruling Hamas terror group welcomed the attack in a statement issued by its spokesperson.
