Pro-Hamas hackers infiltrated the official website of Israel’s Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball team late Sunday night and into Monday morning, leaving a threatening message for Israel amid the Jewish state’s ongoing war against terrorists in the Gaza Strip.
On the homepage of the Maccabi Tel Aviv website was an image of a man dressed in a military uniform branded with a Palestinian flag on the left sleeve, Israeli media reported. Social media users claimed the man was Abu Ubaida, a spokesperson for Hamas’ armed Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. While the man in the image appeared to resemble Ubaida, The Algemeiner was unable to confirm that detail.
The man’s face, except for his eyes, was covered in a Palestinian keffiyeh scarf, and wrapped around his head was a tie that featured the logo of the al-Qassam Brigades, in addition to Arabic writing. The logo of Hamas’ military wing was also in the right hand corner of the photo. The image included text that said “Allah’s victory is near,” and shared a message about Gaza as well as “best wishes” for Israel. It also appeared to feature the date Oct. 16, 2023.
A screenshot shared on social media of the threatening message additionally showed that hackers wrote “Gaza 4 Ev3r” and “F—k Isreal [sic].”

The websites of the Israeli teams Maccabi Netanya and Hapoel Be’er Sheva were also reportedly down at the same time, but all three sites returned back to normal after an hour, according to Israeli media reports.
